Our Projects - 1992 Subaru Impreza WRX GC8 (JDM)
|
This is our first project to showcase the work we do here at Vex. The car belongs to one of the Vex owners. It will be converted into fully prepared rally car.
| The Car
We started with a 1992 Subaru Impreza WRX GC8 (JDM spec). The car came stock out of Japan. Prior to this project, it has been used in Road Racing, AutoSlalom and Winter AutoX events.

| October 2008 - Planning
The first step is to layout what modifications we want/need to convert this car into a fully prepared rally car. We are setting up a build schedule to follow, and a parts list based on our working budget and goals. |
| November/December 2008 - Disassembly
The next step is to strip the car of all hardware to prepare it for the installation of a roll cage.
UPDATE - January 6: In the first week of January 2009 we finished stripping the car and send it off to get the roll cage installed.

|
| January 2009 - Cage
The roll cage going into the car is Sparco Homologated 6-point FIA approved. It will have many addional reinforcements. The chassis will also have seams welded for additional strength. The work is done by Derrick Roshak - he's a fantastic welder based in Didsbury.

|
| February 2009 - Painting/Parts
We got most of the new parts for the engine and will start working on it shortly. In the meantime, the car returned from getting the cage installed and will need to be scrubbed down to prep it for painting.
UPDATE - February 9: Thanks to Erin and Lauren for helping with the scrub down. Started painting the chassis - first, the engine bay. Thanks to Mike for the paint job.
